Nostalgia is in right now. Nickelodeon is bringing back All That, people on Twitter are constantly asking: “Who remembers this?” or saying “We need to bring this back!” And it’s not just there. Music is also going through the same thing. Bruno Mars might be the best example of doing this and it works. 24K Magic is such a great album, it’s wild how he didn’t miss with that. You could also bring up Chromeo too, but Stimulator Jones? He’s something special.

Yet another artist that came up on the Spotify discover weekly playlist. Which has been amazing these past couple weeks. The first song I heard from Jones was Soon Never Comes and that song is so mesmerizing. It reminds me of the 80’s Soul and R&B that my Pops used to play for us in the house. Everything about this song is perfect: the way his vocals are layered, the way he sort of goes back and forth with himself on the hook, the beat of course is golden.

The rest of the album Exotic Worlds and Masterful Treasures is just an absolute masterpiece. I think I’ve ran this album back in one sitting about four times. It’s just so infectious that you don’t want it to end. It’s perfectly timed at 39 minutes so it doesn’t get old and you’ll be sitting there like “Damn, it’s over already?”
Just a side note: Stimulator did everything on the album by himself. So every guitar pluck, piano chord, and groovy bassline is all Mr. Jones. He’s one of the newest signees to the illustrious Stones Throw Records and I think he’ll be around for a long time.
